The Government Accountability Office (GAO) issued a new report April 25 offering newrecommendations to improve the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter’s supply chain and sustainmentissues, and warns that without implementing new procedures, the program could prove unableto meet readiness requirements in an affordable manner.In the report, titled “F-35 Aircraft Sustainment: DOD Needs to Address Substantial SupplyChain Challenges,” the office lays out eight recommendations for the Pentagon to work on –together with the Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition and Sustainment and the F-35Joint Program Office (JPO), as well as relevant services as required – to “close the gapbetween warfighter requirements and F-35 supply chain performance; and address challengeswith deployments, global parts movement, and spare parts accountability.”
