The Convention on Cluster Munitions declaration of February 2007 called for '...a legally binding international instrument that prohibits the use and stockpiling of cluster munitions that cause unacceptable harm to civilians, and secure adequate provision of care and rehabilitation to survivors and clearance of contaminated areas...".rnThe Convention was opened for signature at a Signing Conference in Oslo on 3rd December 2008, and almost six months later, is due to enter into force after its ratification by 30 states' parties.rnWe can no longer buy more cluster munitions, keep existing cluster munitions in our stockpile, use them for training or operations, or sell, gift or exchange cluster munitions. Disposal is the only way forward.
