The Defence, Science & Technology Laboratory (Dstl) is a Trading Fund of the Ministry of Defence and delivers scientific and technical research and advice to the MoD and Other Government Departments (OGDs). Dstl's mission is 'To Create the Winning Edge for UK Forces and Government through the use of Science and Technology', the focus being on supporting UK armed forces by providing scientifically sound recommendations, advice and proof of principle equipment, allowing the military on the front line to successfully complete their operations. Consequently, the quality of the research delivered to the armed forces, whether it is in the form of a new type of sensor or the development of a vaccine, must be of an exceptionally high standard.
