Regardless of the hardware, there are certain universal prerequisites when it comes to training operators, such as safety, learning efficiency and risk. While training traditionally involved classroom instruction followed by practical experience at the controls of real equipment, this fell some way short of said prerequisites and risked exposing trainees, trainers, equipment and site personnel to unacceptable danger.
