The government's decision to stop the proposed cut to the Hebrides Range facilities was made partially in response to concerted local action by the Hebrides Range Task Force (HRTF) - a pressure group based in the Outer Hebrides, which launched a campaign to highlight the importance of the range to UK defence, and to the economy of the islands.
