In 2010/11, there were 5,080 permanent exclusions and 324,110 fixed-period exclusions from state-funded primary, secondary and all special schools. The most common cause for exclusion is persistent disruptive behaviour. 80% of young offenders have been excluded from school. These statistics are shocking. Is it too strong to say that we are failing these young people when something can be done?
