Sustainable development is very much seen as the 'buzzword' of the moment, but few organisations or people understand what they really stand for beyond a vague, simplistic concept of reducing C0_2, water or waste. However, sustainable development really means using resources to develop and support a longer-term business plan in a way that doesn't use up those same resources;they are used more as a catalyst for their activities. Of course, many aspects of carbon reduction are slanted towards reducing the C0_2 emissions that are driving significant elements of climate change;at the same time, they also have the benefit of reducing the fuel (of whatever type) used to support operations either within the military or the commercial sector.
