BAYAZEED's reign had commenced soon after the brilliant victory in the battle of KOSSOVA but he continued the war against SERVIA and other Christian states with boldness and success. It was after the battle of KOSSOVA that the Turks remained masters of SERVIA, BOSNIA, BULGARIA, ROMANIA, ALBANIA and part of GREECE for centuries, with the exception of 11 years (interregnum - 1402 to 1413) when Sultan BAYAZEED had been defeated by AMIR TIM-OUR in the tragic battle of ANGORA (ANKARA) in which over 50000 soldiers were killed in one single day. However, Sultan MOHAMMAD I (a son of BAYAZEED, 1413-1421), with. his personal prowess, valour, justice, humanity and daring exploits acquired the lost territories and reunited the OTTOMAN empire.
