I must apologise for mistakenly writing "North Korea" as "North Vietnam" in my last editorial, the lapse is inexcusable. I should have been more careful with my editing. "North Korea" as an issue has been kept pending for the time being because of North Korea's agreement not to pursue the nuclear route. Emphasis has now fully shifted to Iran, with all factors pointing to imminent action and imaginable consequences. US Vice-President Dick Cheney came on a whistle-stop visit to Pakistan, ostensibly to deliver a "tough" message but more realistically to explain to the Pakistani Head of State, viz (1) the predicament of the Bush Administration in the face of what US (and others) see a lack of progress by Pakistan in the "war against terrorism", and (2) to gauge Pakistan's reaction to an attack on Iran.
