Several bombs were blasted at different parts in the capital Dhaka on March 28 as the country passed through the second day of a 36-hour hartal (shutdown) called by Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) led 18-party alliance, reports Daily Star. The incidents took place in Mirpur, Nayapaltan, Segunbagicha and Shantinagar areas. The shutdown began at 6:00 am on March 26 amidst tight security as huge contingents of Police and Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) were deployed at all the key points of the capital to maintain law and order during hartal hours.
