The big questions revolved around the issue of whether there was a future for the Armed Reconnaissance Helicopter (ARH). Across two days, speaker after speaker reiterated that there was a real and identified requirement for a light reconnaissance/attack helicopter - and it would be manned. While PEO Aviation Brig Gen Tim Crosby offered his opinion (and that is all it was) that some type of unmanned rotorcraft reconnaissance platform is likely in the future force, that concept is still 'a generation away' - and that means a non-factor in decision-making and procurement out to 2025 and beyond. The ARH is required now - and it will be manned.
