Car Audio Enthusiasm - in China

For years, the American 12-volt after-market has knocked products made in China -especially amplifiers and loudspeakers. However, because of the extreme cost of American manufacturing facilities, most of the equipment we sell as retailers is produced is imported. Even if the products are assembled in the United States, a lot of the raw components for loudspeakers and amplifiers are sourced from China and other areas of the Far East. But this does not necessarily make them bad. I believe my own xenophobic 12-volt upbringing was changed when I bought a Chevrolet Equinox 10 years ago, and found out its happy, peppy little power plant was imported from China - honed from their own domestic steel under the supervision of General Motors. The Chinese steels (such as 8Cr13MOV, which is an awesome bang-for-the-buck steel used in knives) and manufacturing tolerances are getting so good that the world's corporations have turned to China as their manufacturing base.
