These trends also present the evolution of car audio from CD to Universal Serial Bus (USB) flash memory. The CD mech-less type is more suitable for the China market because of its low price. Renesas Electronics Corporation has carried out a market research of car audio decoders, and from there has developed the AE1-L and AE1-LF decoders as well as an evaluation board wherein Chinese character can be displayed. AE1-L is mask ROM type and AE1-LF is an external flash ROM type.
