Simple approach to improved actuator bandwidth

For several decades, track density and bit density have increased in tandem, with bits about fifteen times as wide as their length. This means that much better tracking accuracy is needed immediately. Narrower tracks are key to further gains in recording density and tracking performance is a critical limit to progress. The actuator, part of the servo keeping the heads on-track, is one component that has not kept pace with the requirement.
