Italy questions the quota

The country has exceeded EU milk quotas year on year and is currently fighting the system in the Luxembourg court. The EU fines farmers that overproduce, but many Italians have withheld payment ― a backlog of about EUD1 billion is due. According to Italian milk association Assolatte, some may face going out of business if obliged to pay.
