Austrian Cheese Exports Soar

A total of 88,000 tonnes of cheese was exported from Austria in 2008 - an 11% rise on the previous year. But most of the €369 million worth of products from Tyrol, Zillertal and similar Austrian cheese making centres didn't travel too far, as neighbouring Germany remains the Alpine Republic's best customer. Last year it bought almost 50% of all the coun-try's cheese exports - an increase of 7% on the previous year.
