After a heavy summer thunderstorm had exposed the weaknesses of an existing milk delivery and truck dispatch solution, the former Hansa Milch AG decided to invest in a new recording system based on industrial wireless local area networks (WLAN) and radio frequency identification (RFID). The integrated flow of information from the arrival to the dispatch of the trucks now ensures maximum process transparency and minimizes possible errors. To speak of divine providence might be going a bit too far - yet back in 2011, as those responsible at Aria Foods Germany were starting to look for a replacement for the obsolete truck recording system for incoming milk delivery and goods out at its Upahl facility, it was a summer storm that got the project going.
