Q. What in your background prepared you for your current role? I've had extensive, 30 years' worth of experience as an entrepreneur in a variety of industries. While there are distinct differences from one industry to another, the basics of providing the customer with a product they want to purchase, and a clear value proposition are always the same. Starting and building a company requires a lot of perseverance and determination, so the entrepreneurial experiences I've had to date have prepared me well for this venture. Q. How long did it take to develop and start producing the ice creams? Re:THINK Ice Cream was founded in California in 2018 out of my addiction to pain pills and alcohol. However, I began working on the idea, recipe and foundation for the company over a year before then. As I entered recovery, I was forced to rethink everything in my life. After getting sober, my body still craved the sugar that was in the alcohol I used to consume, so I found myself turning to my favourite childhood treat, ice cream, as a substitution. My middle-aged metabolism couldn't keep up with the ice cream, and I realised I was trading one addiction for another, so I thought there must be a way to "rethink" ice cream to make it healthier but still taste great.
