IT will be a game changer for years to come. The growth of technology has been tremendous, with new opportunities and business streams emerging (see Figure 4). Basic principles and functions have changed over the years, and with the advent of dynamic IT, the very complexion of IT has changed. Into the 21st century, only "prepared" organizations and professionals will propel themselves to success. An info worker of the 21st century has to have a heterogeneous mix of technical expertise, business acumen, and flexibility, along with an open mind to learn new things, which forms the basis of growth in an information era. The days of the "deep IT technologist" are definitely behind us.
