Type approval becomes mandatory for all newly manufactured minibuses, buses and coaches (M2 and M3 categories) on 29 October 2011 regardless of whether they are intended for private or commercial use. 1. If you are buying a new vehicle you need to identify converters and coachbuilders that are able to understand and deliver the new specifications. 2.ECWVTA specifications mean that seating capacity will be reduced so you may need to buy a larger vehicle. Some previously available design features will not be available. Vehicles may well be more expensive to purchase and will probably cost more per passenger to run.
