Youth Contesting in Europe: Plus: CQWW WPX CW, the CQ World Wide Survey Part 2, and WRTC2018 Tent Sponsorships

May is a busy month for radiosport. Several interesting contests with fewer participants than the majors lead up to the ever-popular CQ World Wide WPX CW contest at the end of the month. And of course May is the month for the Dayton Hamvention®, where hundreds of contesters will stay off the air and instead gather in forums, at display booths, and in the flea market at Hara Arena during the day, then retire downtown for pizza and beer in the Contest Super Suite. While attendance is particularly heavy from the east and Midwest, there's always excellent representation from other geographic areas and a good number of DX operators as well. Of course, every major amateur manufacturer and many small ones are onsite, demonstrating their latest equipment and answering questions. The major contest-related activities during the Dayton Hamvention were summarized in the March column.
