摘要

The present work applied tensile testing to investigate the adhesion of thermal oxide scales to as-received hot-rolled carbon steels containing 0.04-0.18 wt.% C and to steels oxidised in the atmosphere relevant to the hot-rolling process which contained water vapour. Higher carbon content in the steel deteriorated the adhesion of scale formed during hot rolling which was related to the higher amount of carbon existed at scale-steel interface. For the steel with 0.14wt.% C, increasing the coiling temperature could increase the carbon solubility in the matrix, thus reducing the interfacial carbon and improving the scale adhesion.
