Conductive ceramic MAX-phase (Ti3AlC2) coated stainless-steel 304 exhibits good corrosion resistance in pH 3 H2SO4 solution containing 2 ppm F- at 70 degrees C in simulated PEMFC environments. The corrosion current density of the Ti-Al-C films is 0.44 mu A.cm(-2) were calculated using the potentiodynamic polarization, and the current density during the 24 h potentiostatic polarization test is 0.8 mu A.cm(-2) . The interfacial contact resistance value of the Ti3AlC2-coated samples is 3.725 m Omega.cm(2) at 140 N.cm(-2) pressure, which is very low as compared to the bare SS304.
