Impact of storm water treatment measures on the pollutant load in combined sewer systems

The current situation in urban drainage conception and inte- grated storm water management is characterized. The pa- per focusses on the question of including storm water infil- tration and other source control measures in the German standard design procedure A 128 correctly. The results ob- tained by long-term pollution load simulations are presen- ted and discussed. They clearly show the positive effects of source-control based storm water management on receiv- ing water loads. However, they also indicate possible limits of realization in modified combined sewer systems and the need of adjusting the existing guidelines.
