Historically, most refrigerated container production ran from May to November in line with the seasonal waves of fresh produce exports from South America, Asia and Oceania. Today, more than half of worlds reefer trade is in non-seasonal cargoes - frozen meat, fish and vegetables, plus pharmaceuticals. Production of new reefer containers is now more equally spread throughout the year. The maturing demand has required reefer box production companies to mature as well. Carrier Global Corp, which provides reefer containers and air products under the name Carrier Transicold, has taken the significant step of separating from United Technologies and debuting on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) under the symbol CARR. Carrier president and chief executive Dave Gitlin says, "Against the backdrop of unprecedented global uncertainty, Carrier and its employees remain focused and continue to solve critical challenges - from improving indoor air quality, protecting the worlds food and pharmaceutical supply and keeping people safe and secure. I am honoured to lead this fantastic company and now, more than ever, I am incredibly proud of the perseverance and resiliency of our talented workforce."
