IAQ Is Elementary

When almost half the staff of a New England elementary school began feeling ill while at work in early 1999, the superintendent knew he had a problem. Like most public schools, they could not afford to vacate the building for long, but certainly didn't want to leave students and staff at risk. Sensing a possible environmental problem, the superintendent called in a consultant to analyze the situation and recommend solutions. To expedite the investigation, the building was closed toward the end of the academic year, and temporary quarters were found to continue classes.
