Roads Jobs Get Boost From Speeded Up Spending

Access to ports and airports is to be made easier under the Government's plans to speed up public spending in a bid to boost the economy, reports Andrea Klettner. Secretary of state for transport Geoff Hoon announced ￡1 billion worth of work to be brought forward from 2010/11. Included is ￡165 million to create a new road link between Manchester Airport and the A6 to the east, ￡30 million to improve road access to Immingham Port and up to ￡60 million for traffic management measures on 54 miles on the A12 leading to Fe-lixstowe and Harwich ports.
