Most CN readers expect to make less money this year, and are worried about the future, according to a poll of 1,200 construction workers at all levels of the industry. Perhaps most worryingly for the long term, most would not recommend a life in construction to a family member. Morale has been hit hard as the industry works through its toughest year for a generation, according to research carried out by Construction News last week. More than two-thirds said they felt personally "uncertain" about the future. Overall, 58 per cent of respondents said they expected to earn less money in 2009 than last year -and more than a third expected to earn a lot less. Only 11 per cent expected to earn more.
