摘要

We are in the midst of the climate change discussions in Copenhagen, arguably one of the most crucial meetings in the world. While governments decide what to do to save the planet, contractors are also trying to get ahead of the game. And clients want the industry to follow suit. Take this statement from Land Securities' chief executive Francis Salway, at a lecture he gave last month: "We are immensely impressed by how the small cadre of principal contractors in the construction industry have grasped the sustainability agenda. We believe it will give them competitive advantage, as many of their competitors will simply not be able to deliver on what we now take as a given in terms of management of waste and energy usage on site."
