Rival bidders have been taken by surprise with the emergence of a fifth consortium vying for the major tunnelling packages on the £15.9 billion Crossrail project.rnCrossrail last week announced that a joint venture of Dragados -owned by leading Spanish firm Grupo ACS - and Irish giant John Sisk & Son had been shortlisted for contracts C300 and C305.rnThe team joins four consortia already known to be in the running for the work, which covers the construction of 6.2 km and 11.9 km of underground running tunnels north of the river Thames.
