North/South divide in academies work bounty

Two academy jobs worth a total of £25 million will be put out to contractors on the academies framework early next month, Partnerships for Schools has revealed. Projects in Bolton and Brighton will kick off a wave of £800 million of academies work that will filter out over the next 18 months. Kearsley Academy in Bolton will be the first of 28 schemes worth a total of about £250m to go to the 12 contractors on the North and Midlands arm of the framework. But the South and South-east arm is definitely the place to be, with Portslade Aldridge Community Academy the first of 43 projects worth a combined £550m. PfS chief executive Tim Byles said procurement for the new work would follow the fastline procedures trialled with Campsmount Technology College.
