摘要

Covanta Energy has submitted plans for a £400m energy-from-waste (EfW) generating station in Wales. It submitted a development consent order to the Infrastructure Planning Commission (IPC) for the Brig y Cwm plant, near Merthyr Tydfil, one of seven sites currently being looked at in the UK and Irish Republic by the company. The developer said the plant will create 650 jobs during construction, while generating 67MW of electricity from approximately 750,000 tonnes of residual waste. Covanta operates more than 40 EfW plants worldwide and entered the UK market in 2005. It is seeking to build on six sites in the UK as part of a £2 billion strategic development plan.
