Gas generator to increase its range of a projectile and a projectile having a gas generator

A projectile rear end gas generator (2) has a plastic support tube (9) which is deformed by hot gas pressure and the projectile wake for expulsion through a bottom combustion gas exhaust opening. A rear end gas generator (2), for increasing the range of a projectile, is located in a housing (3) with an axially extending combustion chamber (4) adjoining a bottom combustion gas exhaust opening (7). A cylindrical support tube (9) is provided in the combustion chamber region adjacent the exhaust opening (7) and consists of a plastic which is deformed by the generated hot gases, the propellant charge gas pressure prevailing in the combustion chamber and the projectile wake and which is pressed through the exhaust opening. An Independent claim is also included for a projectile with the above gas generator at its rear end.
