Orbit has confirmed the appointment of Wates Living Space as the contractor to build the £128m 620-home regeneration of Larner Road in Erith in London Borough of Bexley. Orbit will replace six high-rise blocks with 620 family homes for around 2,000 people, with work due to start on site from March 2013. Labour leader Ed Miliband has pledged that a Labour government would make it mandatory for private sector companies on public contracts to employ apprentices.
