Balfour and Costain win nuclear places

Balfour Beatty and Costain have beaten eight rivals to land prized positions on a 10-year nuclear construction framework worth more than £250 million, Construction News understands. The two firms are to be officially named by Magnox later this month as its contractors for nationwide works including design, construction, modification, repairs and refurbishment. Contractors set to miss out after submitting tenders are Bam Nuttall, Black and Veatch, Galliford Try, Interserve, J Murphy, Kier,Mace and Vinci Construction. CN revealed the 10 contractors had been shortlisted for the multi-site construction, infrastructure and enablers strategic framework in December 2011.
