A survey of more than 700 SME contractors has found that more than two-thirds believe larger contractors get preferential treatment when bidding for government work. The survey found that the government's attempts to secure a level playing field for SMEs in procurement were not working, with almost 80 per cent feeling larger companies will be given "preferential treatment" ahead of SMEs for funding announced in the spending review.
