Following a very wet winter, construction workers will be familiar with the problems of too much water on site. Morrison Utility Services had such a difficulty at the £100m Heysham electrical substation project it is building for Dong Energy. As soon as digging began on site at the bottom of a hill underpinned by rock, water accumulated and did not drain away. While this made construction work difficult, water could not be pumped away untreated as it was full of silt.
