Margin pressure squeezes profits

Turnover for the CN100 is heading upwards but pre-tax and operating profit have both made double-digit falls across the board after the latest spate of results. Almost half of the CN100 have released updated financial results since our league table of the UK's top 100 construction companies was published (CN 5 Sep 2013). The updates mean that at £59.1bn, total turnover when incorporating the latest sets of accounts across CN100 firms is up 1.1 per cent compared with their previous financial years.
