Mace has bounced back from two high-profile London contract defeats to secure TH Real Estate's £400m 'Gotham City' office scheme at 40 Leadenhall Street, Construction News can reveal. The contractor was selected as preferred bidder for the City of London job after going head-to-head with Laing O'Rourke. The news came after Construction News last week revealed Laing O'Rourke had beaten Mace to Brockton Capital and Oxford Properties' £500m New Oxford Street development. Mace also recently lost out to Brookfield Multiplex to build the new Goldman Sachs HQ in London, in a deal understood to be worth up to £350m. For 40 Leadenhall, the two contractors were narrowed down from a shortlist of four which also featured Sir Robert McAlpine and Skanska.
