Contractors risk missing out on a major pipeline of work unless the government ensures its new roads fund is used to cover local roads, the MD of one of Britain's largest highways contracting businesses has said. Lafarge Tarmac Contracting managing director Paul Fleetham (pictured) told Construction News that while he welcomed George Osborne's plan for a new roads fund to improve motorways and strategic roads, it "did not go far enough" and that it was essential the fund was put towards improving local roads to ensure contractors continued to invest in this type of work.
