The cast iron shaft cover or upper part, in road traffic surfaces, has a frame with a cover or grid of cast iron. The laying surfaces (4) for the frame are at the shaft, and the laying surfaces for the cover are at the frame. The laying surfaces at the frame are at the lower section, distributed around the whole circumference of the cover, as local support points (3) through vertical pillars (9) or brackets, which can be shrouded by exchangeable damper caps. The pillars or brackets have a cross section shape in a rectangle, circle or a T-shape molded without cores. Horizontal openings are at the lower section of the vertical leg (1) of the frame, and holes (5) are in the horizontal leg (2) with or without a threading.
