A practical guide to2015CDM Regulations

The Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015 puts projects into three categories: 1. Those starting before 6 April and finishing before 6 October 2015; 2. Those starting before 6 April but finishing post 6 October 2015; 3. Those starting after 6 April. Category one is governed by the existing (2007) regulations. For categories two and three, it's worth discussing how to manage the transition period as well as complications which may arise. For category one, if a CDM co-ordinator (CDMC) has already been appointed, the client has until 6 October to appoint a principal designer (PD). Until then, the project and the CDMC will continue to operate under the 2007 regulations and the new regulations will not have an effect.
