In 2013 I was elected vice-chair of the London and Southern region of the National Federation of Demolition Contractors. After being elected chair of the region by its more than 80 members, I formally took up the position as chair-elect at the NFDC's national Annual General Meeting last month. I am now proud to head up the biggest and most influential region within the federation, working with members to produce industry guidance notes on key issues. To use the words of NFDC chief executive Howard Button: "Demolition has been a male-dominated industry fortoo long." As its first ever female chair, I hope to add a new dimension to the federation's governing council.
