An attempt to demolish Edinburgh's 1960s gradeAlisted Royal Commonwealth Pool has been quashed by Scottish architecture minister Linda Fabiani.rnFellow MSP Ian McKee had called on ministers to have the 1967 RMJM-designed building delisted and bulldozed, claiming it was no longer fit for purpose as a venue for international swimming tournaments.rnBut in a further sign of Scotland's apparent championing of 20th century architecture, Fabiani described the structure as a "streamlined modernist design of international renown" in a recent letter to McKee, firmly rejecting his proposal.
