Profit declines 44% at CWC

Canary Wharf Contractors has warned that economic uncertainty will "undermine confidence" in the real estate market after posting a 44 per cent decline in pre-tax profit. The firm said recent government policy, including changes to stamp duty, had "contributed to a slowing of residential land prices" across the real estate sector, adding that the impact of the EU referendum will add "significant uncertainty" into what is already a slowing market. The company recorded turnover of £124.9m for the year to 31 December 2015, down 6.8 per cent compared with £134.lm posted in 2014.
