It remains a hugely exciting time to be in the industry, especially as we look to the next road period and work towards our network being safer, smarter and more sustainable. Safety remains our first priority. That is why we have committed to government that, by investing in and modernising our network, we will achieve a 40 per cent reduction by 2020 in the number of people killed or seriously injured on our roads. We also understand our drivers' expectations in the way we manage roadworks and clear up incidents, which is why we are trialling the benefits of raising the speed limit through roadworks where safe to do so, and also to reduce the length of them where possible.
