摘要

One worker and two bystanders were taken to hospital after a scaffold collapse at a McGee site in Reading, Berkshire, last week. A union official said it was a matter of "luck" that the incident in Garrard Street on the morning of Thursday, 1 August, had resulted in no loss of life. Emergency services spent the afternoon searching for anyone who might have been trapped under the rubble at the site of the former Friars Walk Shopping Centre, close to the town's train station. Police used search and rescue dogs and the fire service deployed thermal imaging equipment in their hunt.
