Runway construction uses JCBs

Bilfinger Berger used 10 JCB wheeled excavators in the construction of the new north-west runway at Frankfurt Rhein-Main airport. The contractor was commissioned by airport operator Fraport to build the 2.8km runway and a 15km long perimeter road. It rented the excavators - which included two 15 tonne JS145W models and two 18 tonne JS175W models - from German company Demco Baumaschinen Rents.
