Contract for final part of Brenner tunnel

The involvement by the Italian-based and recently-merged company Salini Impregilo, and Austria's Strabag in the construction of the Brenner Base Tunnel through the Alps continues. The contractors have been awarded another contract on the project - this time they will be building an underpass beneath the Isarco River at the southern segment of the tunnel. Valued at €300 million, the Isarco underpass win follows a contract from the Austrian side of the tunnel, awarded to Salini Impregilo and Strabag in April which was worth €380 million.
