Major road construction contracts are never easy to come by and are always hard won. The award of a lucrative roads contract generally comes as the result of many years of experience and a combination of skill sets in the design team and workforce that enable the contractor to be precise about the challenges, timescale, equipment and, of course, costs involved. In terms of challenges, today's projects are more complex than ever before, given the new normal of social distancing and additional pressures of ensuring the work is undertaken sustainably.
